Re-Fit Warranty
Cosmic Ears custom in-ear monitors have a 30 day refit warranty.
Cosmic Ears produce the in-ears as a direct replica of the accepted impressions.
When Cosmic Ears receive the impressions they will be checked for suitability. We will check that the impressions are:
- of the correct material
- no visible imperfections
- no missing material
- a full ear impression has been taken
- impressions have been taken as per our guidelines
Cosmic Ears can inspect the in-ears in accordance to the above, however it must be noted that Cosmic Ears cannot verify that the impressions are an exact copy of the ears, this is the responsibility of the audiologist. Fit issues can be due to issues during the impression taking process, this is why we strongly recommend using one of our recommended audiologists.
There are times that a refit is required, there are so many variables when creating a custom in-ear monitor that may result is some minor fit issues. We do always recommended wearing them for a few days first as it can sometimes take a day or so to become accustomed to the the custom type of in-ears.
Cosmic Ears custom in-ears provide around -22 to -25db of isolation. It is impossible to offer complete isolation with any form of in-ear or hearing protection as sound travels through the bodies bone structure, keep this in mind when checking the isolation.
Re-fit Process
If your impressions have been taken by one of recommended audiologists then the following is applicable.
You will be required to fill in a re-fit form, detailing as much information as possible. You should print the form and include it when returning the in-ears. Return the in-ears to Cosmic Ears using the information at the bottom of this page. The customer is responsible for shipping costs to Cosmic Ears. Return shipping is the responsibility of Cosmic Ears.
Once we receive them they will be taken to the lab for assessment and adjustments, you will be informed along the process.
If the fit is still not correct after the second re-fit we will discuss the options with you as each case maybe different.
If your impressions have NOT been taken by one of recommended audiologists, or the recommended material has NOT been used, then the following is applicable.
You will be required to fill in a re-fit form, detailing as much information as possible. You should print the form and include it when returning the in-ears. Return the in-ears to Cosmic Ears using the information at the bottom of this page. The customer is responsible all shipping costs to and from Cosmic Ears.
Once we receive them they will be taken to the lab for assessment and adjustments, you will be informed along the process.
If the fit is still not correct after the second re-fit then a remake of either one or both sides will be required and there will be a charge for this.
During such remake we will use our pre-fit service as an extra step in ensuring a good fit is achieved from non-recommended impressions. There is no additional cost for the pre-fit.
We may also require fresh impressions for a remake.
The cost of a remake in this instance is:
- For both sides – current purchase cost minus 10%
- For one side – half the current purchase cost minus 10%
This is why we stress the importance of using one of our recommended audiologists.
Returning your in-ears for a re-fit
Package your in-ears safely, DO NOT send the in-ears in an envelope or Jiffy bag, ensure they are in some form of box to protect them.
Ensure that you clearly mark on the package “RETURNED UNDER WARRANTY, NO COMMERCIAL VALUE”, as this will ensure customs and duty fees are not charged. Cosmic Ears are not responsible for any customs charges incurred for returned in-ears, if any custom charges are made we will invoice the customer for the appropriate amount.
